"Some fascinating coincidences"

ONE OF OUR OWN

makes racecourse debut today

Trained by Rebecca Menzies, and ridden by Phil Dennis, our lovely 2yr old filly ONE OF OUR OWN makes her first appearance on a racecourse today (26th May 2022) at Carlisle.

We have leased OOOO from her breeder Stuart Matheson of Abacus Bloodstock and she will race for us for her 2yr and 3yr old seasons before returning to the stud to become a broodmare.

The first day out for any racehorse is a mix of tension, excitement and unlimited dreams but it is not the end of a journey, it is very much the start.

It does feel that ONE OF OUR OWN was destined to make her debut today.

She will be the first runner from new stallion POETS WORD, but that should have been expected as her half-brother FLASH TO BANG was the first runner by Telescope, and PANCAKE DAY was the first runner by Mullionmileanhour. The mare clearly breeds precocious types.

Today also see the GROUP3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes ran at Sandown, which was won by POETS WORD in 2018.

It was be disingenuous to claim the timing of the debut for the filly was planned to to coincide with the Brigadier Gerard or to be the first runner by POETS WORD, but it is also hard to ignore the coincidences.

If you aren't already of member of THE GOLD AND GREEN CROWD, it is not too late to get involved and share the journey for ONE OF OUR OWN and the rest of the horses in the string.
